Travis Kelce dishes on meeting Taylor Swift’s dad before Argentina concert

Travis Kelce earned himself a new fan after meeting Taylor Swift’s dad for the first time ahead of the singer’s Eras Tour concert in Argentina.

“I might have persuaded him [to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan] at dinner the night before when I met him,” the tight end told his brother Jason Kelce on Wednesday’s episode of their “New Heights” podcast while discussing his interaction with Scott Swift, who is a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

“No, did you?” Jason asked before Travis replied, “Maybe, who knows.”

“He’s a huge football guy,” Travis continued. “He played college ball, I believe a year at Hawaii and then a year or two, I forget how long, at Delaware. I believe he was a line-backer turned center.”

Travis noted that Taylor’s dad is a “tall guy,” standing at 6-foot-2.

Elsewhere in the episode, Travis said that they had a delicious dinner in the hotel because the concert had been postponed over weather concerns so they wanted to respect the fans.

“I might have persuaded him [to be a Kansas City Chiefs fan] at dinner the night before when I met him,” Travis said while reflecting on their evening together.

“We got some good food, man. Had some empanadas and steak. They’re big on steak and all the different cuts of meat, yeah,” he said. “We got some good steak down there, man.”

Travis added, “It was the first night I was there— really the only night we had a chance to go to dinner. [It] was the night the show got postponed so we didn’t just want to go and have a blast throughout the city like we didn’t care about the show. So we made sure we stayed in the hotel and kind of kept to ourselves.”

Taylor, 33, and Travis, 34, were seen holding hands as Scott joined them for dinner at the Elena restaurant located in the Four Seasons Hotel.

The Chiefs star also recalled his hilarious interaction with Scott when they watched Taylor’s Buenos Aires concert in a VIP section together the next day.

Jason asked his brother how he felt about Taylor changing the lyrics in her song “Karma” from, “Karma is the guy on the screen” to “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs.”

“I had no clue, well I might have had a little bit of a clue. Definitely when I heard it come out of her mouth [it] still shocked me,” he said. ” I was like, ‘Oh s–t. She really just said that.’”

Jason then noted that Travis was “so shocked” that he left the “Cruel Summer” singer’s dad “hanging.”

“Scott’s over here looking for a high-five,” Jason explained, after which Travis said, “Year, Mr. Swift, I apologize big guy.”

“Aw man, I missed that. I never miss a high-five, too. Big high-five guy. It’s the most electric thing you can do at an event, and so, sorry Mr. Swift,” Travis added.

Taylor and Travis shared their first public kiss after the concert ended.

Still, Scott seems to have fully embraced his daughter’s relationship with Travis as he was even wearing a Chiefs lanyard backstage.

“Got him over here to the good side, baby,” Travis said. “Just one by one, getting all the good ones to come on over here.”

Later in the conversation, Travis reflected on how amazing it was to watch the Grammy winner perform.

“The show was even more electric, knowing that I had a little bit more to enjoy it for and Taylor absolutely ripped it,” Travis said.

“I was enjoying myself down there in Buenos Aires. The show was even more electric, knowing that I had a little bit more to enjoy it for and Taylor absolutely ripped it,” he said. “She killed it and it looked like she was having some fun up there.”
