Over the weekend, Japanese streetwear designer VERDY announced on Instagram that he will be collaborating with McDonald’s China. Taking to the platform to showcase a teaser video that combined the fast-food restaurant’s classic Golden Arches with VERDY’s “Best Friends Forever” characters.
The main graphic on the collaboration features VERDY’s iconic Vick character who buddies up with McDonald’s characters Hamburglar and Speedee. The playful collaboration sees an apparel collection that combines both brands’ motifs on soccer jerseys, hoodies, varsity jackets, t-shirts, tote bags and chain necklaces.
Of course, the apparel collection is inspired by the new themed packaging that sees Vick and the “BFF” concept come to life. The font takes on the branding font from VERDY’s Girls Don’t Cry, as seen on the packaging and labels. It is currently uncertain if VERDY will also have a special meal option to go along with the merch collaboration. The VERDY x McDonald’s collab will be ready for purchase from now until January 2, 2024 in China. It remains to be seen if it will expand to other regions.
