Prince Harry is planning on calling his father, King Charles III, on Tuesday to wish him a happy 75th birthday despite their estrangement.
The Duke of Sussex will give the reigning monarch a ring to celebrate the milestone, well-placed sources told the BBC.
The outlet noted that the call could be seen as an olive branch after Harry was snubbed from Charles’ birthday plans.
Earlier this month, reports surfaced that the prince, 39, would be skipping out on his dad’s birthday festivities. However, Harry said he was never invited in the first place.
“In response to UK media headlines, there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday,” Harry’s spokesperson told the Messenger.
“It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story.”
Another royal source told the website that Buckingham Palace “never reached out” to Harry.
Charles will celebrate the big 7-5 by hosting a reception for NHS nurses and midwives, and there will also be ceremonial gun salutes in his honor.
The king also used his birthday to launch a new foundation, Coronation Food Project.
“The project is a groundbreaking initiative to help reduce food waste and support those living in food insecurity,” the royal family announced in an Instagram statement Tuesday.
While Harry won’t be traveling across the pond for Charles’ big day, the royal family chose to include the “Spare” author in a birthday tribute shared on social media.
A sweet video honoring the sovereign featured throwback photos of Charles with Harry as well as with his other son, Prince William.
“👑🎂 Wishing His Majesty The King a happy 75th birthday,” the caption of the video read.
Tensions have been high between Harry and Charles since the redheaded royal and his wife, Meghan Markle, resigned from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, Calif., where they now live with their two children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

Harry and Markle, 42, subsequently sat down for several interviews bashing the British monarchy.
He also released his scathing memoir, in which he claimed that his father viewed him as a backup heir to the throne after his older brother, William, 41.
Harry also claimed in the book that Charles didn’t even hug him after sharing the news that his mom, Princess Diana, died in a car crash in 1997.
The Invictus Games founder and the “Suits” alum did reunite with the royal family during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022, but the couple have steered clear of his relatives since.
Harry showed up solo to support Charles at the king’s coronation ceremony in May; however, he left immediately after the event ended and did not appear to interact with his brother or father at all.
Last month, sources claimed that Charles wanted to squash his feud with Harry, but only for the sake of public perception.
“Ultimately Charles has not just a personal but also a strategic need to resolve the issue,” a former palace staffer told the Daily Beast at the time.
“It’s not sustainable for the king, who is the national symbol of unity, to be on such bad terms with his son.”
