Roommates, it has been over a month since the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman, and many of his friends, family and co-stars have spoken out about the impact that he had on the entertainment industry. One of the biggest questions left unanswered since his passing is about the fate of the Black Panther film franchise, and Letitia Wright has just weighed in on the situation.
As we previously reported, Chadwick was reportedly prepping to film the sequel to the film one week before his passing, and Disney is uncertain about how to proceed with it. Fans have suggested that Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s younger sister in the film, take the lead, but she says it just wouldn’t be right without Chadwick.
“We’re just still mourning Chad, so its not something I even want to think about,” Letitia told Porter Magazine. “The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange.”
Following the announcement of Chadwick’s death, Letitia paid tribute to him with a spoken-word piece she had written.
“It is written, there is nothing new under the sun. But the sun stood still that morning, refusing to shine,” she said. “Dark clouds surrounding, confusion setting in. Tears flowing, rivers so deep. I didn’t know that is what I was waking up to — my brother, an angel on earth, departed.”
She continues, saying: “And all that’s left now is fo us to allow all the seeds you’ve planted on the earth to grow, to blossom, to become even more beautiful. You’re forever in my heart.”
Chadwick may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. His legacy of a man who broke barriers and made room for those who needed it will live on.
Keep Chadwick’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this time, Roomies.
