Jamie Lynn Spears sues home insurance company over 2021 hurricane damages

Jamie Lynn Spears is suing her home insurance company, claiming it has not paid for the damages her house sustained during 2021’s Hurricane Ida.

Spears and her husband, Jamie Watson, filed the lawsuit alleging Progressive owes them a substantial sum to repair their house, which is located in Hammond, La.

“As a result of Hurricane Ida, they suffered a loss to their personal property caused by a peril covered under the insurance policy,” the couple’s lawyer wrote in court documents obtained by the Blast.

“Progressive either negligently or intentionally failed to fairly and promptly adjust the damages suffered by the [couple], thus breaching the terms of the insurance policy and its obligations.”

The “Zoey 101” star, 32, and Watson, 41, did not give a specific number they feel they are owed but stated that Progressive has not given them a legitimate reason for not paying them the funds.

She didn’t list a specific amount but claims she also suffered “pain and anguish.”

Following the destruction of Hurricane Ida, Spears opened up about how powerful it was to see her community come together to rebuild and repair.

“LOUISIANA has been the backdrop to some of the most important moments in my life, and it’s the place I have always called my HOME, but it’s the incredible people who live here that make it such a special place,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“It’s been absolutely heartbreaking to see all of the devastation #HURRICANEIDA has caused to the place I love and call home, but it has warmed my heart so much to see all our neighbors here in Louisiana coming together to help each other during hard times like they ALWAYS have.”

“I’ve never been more proud to be from Louisiana,” she wrote on Instagram.
