The North Face has unveiled its latest creation, the Baltoro Collection, expressed through a blend of utility-driven tech and the legendary experiences of renowned mountaineer and explorer Conrad Anker. Design inspirations for the new line tap into the brand’s alpine heritage and the broader spirit of exploration.
This new collection is named after the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram Range, a challenging terrain familiar to Anker and other experienced climbers. Throughout the climbing realm, Baltoro is regarded as a symbol of grit and endurance, qualities that the collection is meant to reflect.
Reinventing a classic, this collection, originally designed for high-alpine mountaineering, now caters to the everyday explorer. The Baltoro Pack, in particular, is a tribute to Anker’s legacy and The North Face’s commitment to outdoor exploration. Each piece in the range is a fusion of mountaineering essentials and contemporary design.
The collection features designs and silhouettes that are inspired by pivotal moments in exploration history — including the Himalayan Jacket, Heavyweight Relaxed Fit Sweatpants and the Glenclyffe low shoes, all carrying a distinct mountain print. The uniqueness of the Baltoro Collection lies in its integration of Anker’s hand-drawn expedition notes, offering insights into his strategies for tackling treacherous expeditions.
Other standout design aspects include the approach of combining classic silhouettes with accents of mountainscapes, providing a personal touch and in a sense bridging the “peaks with the streets.”
Retail pricing for items in the collection has not yet been revealed at the time of writing, however, the collection is expected to drop on November 28, via The North Face UK’s official site.
