Matthew Williams, the creative director and co-founder of 1017 ALYX 9SM, as well as the creative director of Givenchy, has revealed a first look at an upcoming collaboration with Nike, using the Air Force 1 Low silhouette for the basis of the design.
The pair follows the Air Force 1 High, which was first revealed in 2018 and released in 2020, with several iterations released since. In comparison to the High, which featured the brand’s iconic roller coaster buckle, the Air Force 1 Low feels quite understated, as in its current form, it features no hardware outside of a co-branded deubré.
Other co-branding elements, likely to be printed, etched or stitched, appear at the lower portion of the heel on the lateral side of the shoe, at the tongue label and on the insoles. With the drawings in black and white, there is very little detail provided in terms of texture or material that will be used and at first glance, the difference between the ALYX pair and Nike’s inline AF1 are minimal.
Williams’ post did, however, mention that the 1017 ALYX 9SM x Nike Air Force 1 Low will be “coming soon,” which will hopefully mean more details will be shared soon as well.
