Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex, dead at 32 from drug overdose

Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex, died Wednesday evening from a drug overdose. He was 32.

The “Wayne’s World” star and his wife, Paula, issued a heartbreaking statement announcing the news Thursday.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old,” the statement began.

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years. He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, film making, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.”

The couple said their late son made people love life, but “most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee.”

“Dex was a beautiful person,” the statement continued. “His handmade birthday cards are a treasure. Will will miss him forever.”

Dana, 68, and Paula concluded their message with prayers for those “struggling with addiction.”

TMZ reported Thursday that Dex passed away after first responders rushed to his house after receiving a call from his girlfriend around 10 p.m. PT.

Dex had locked himself in the bathroom and was unresponsive when authorities discovered him. Paramedics reportedly tried to revive him, but to no avail.

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s online database confirms Dex died at home and that an autopsy has been scheduled.

Dex opened for the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s 2016 Netflix special, “Straight White Male,” during which he delivered material he had been working on that discussed everything from Pride parades to anecdotes about his famous father.

Dana and Paula also share 30-year-old son Thomas, another aspiring comedian.
