Blackpink brings girl group glam to Buckingham Palace state banquet with royal family

They’re girl group royalty.

Blackpink turned heads in glamorous gowns at a Buckingham Palace state banquet on Tuesday, with the South Korean artists attending in support of president Yoon Suk Yeol and first lady Kim Keon Hee before the group was made honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

The K-pop singers looked regal for Tuesday night’s banquet, with each member bringing her own style to the glittering banquet, which was also attended by King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Prince and Princess of Wales, the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Gloucester.

Roseanne Park, 26, who is known as Rosé, chose a classic strapless black velvet gown by Korean designer Pinkong, while Jisoo Kim, 28 — who recently split from her actor boyfriend — coordinated with her bandmate in a puff-sleeved black Dior dress and matching purse by the designer.

The group was appointed honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire in honor of their environmental work.

Jennie Kim, 27, went in the opposite direction of the dark dresses, wearing an off-the-shoulder white Toni Maticevski style that channeled the Louis Vuitton dress Meghan Markle wore to the 2022 Ripple of Hope gala.

Meanwhile, Lalisa Manoban, 26, aka Lisa, wore perhaps the most regal look of all, wearing a very Kate Middleton-esque Georges Hobeika gown ($10,015) featuring aqua beading and an attached tulle cape.

Fans were loving their princess moment, like one who commented on the Royal Fashion Police Instagram account, “Love how Lisa grabbed the opportunity to wear something very royal cos this is the perfect real life time to do so 😍.”

“Better dressed than every royal there 🤷🏻‍♀️” another royal fashion follower wrote.

King Charles III even mentioned Blackpink in a speech at the banquet, telling the guests, “I applaud Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé, better known collectively as Blackpink, for their role in bringing the message of environmental sustainability to a global audience as Ambassadors for the U.K.’s Presidency of COP 26, and later as advocates for the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.”

On Wednesday, the King further honored the girl group by investing them as honorary Members of the Order of the British Empire, with Blackpink swapping their evening gowns for smart suits and dresses in shades of black and gray.

The palace even played their hit song, “DDU-DU DDU-D,” sharing an Instagram video of a royal band performing the song outside Buckingham Palace captioned, “On Wednesdays, we play Blackpink. 🖤💗.”

Who knew The King was a K-pop fan?
