Following their collaboration with Talking Heads, Stüssy has taken to Instagram to reveal their next capsule for Fall 2023. Stüssy has paired up with Toronto-based label Better™ Gift Shop.
The two labels announced their upcoming collaboration in a joint Instagram post, showcasing some of the pieces set to be revealed later this week. The post teases a series of co-branded t-shirts, including one that sees the text “Built Better” on the back, a nod to the iconic Stüssy and Better Gift Shop monikers. The collection also features graphics painted by artist Greg Shimada. The San Francisco-based multi-hyphenate had previously been in the same space as Better Gift Shop earlier this summer when Nepenthes NY held the opening reception for the Toronto brand’s pop-up and the “Mid Summer Night” art exhibition in Manhattan’s Garment District.
In his own Instagram post, Shimada shared how the collaboration came about noting that both Stüssy and Better Gift Shop had reached out to him for the collaborative chainsaw painting seen on the t-shirt and ashtray. The conversation between the artist and the two brands seemingly happened two years ago as mentioned by Shimada as he reminds his fans, “Moral of the story is even on vacation: get it how you live.” Take a look at what to expect from the upcoming Stüssy x Better Gift Shop collaboration arriving on September 15 at online at Stüssy.
