New York Fashion Week commanded the majority of these last seven days, marking the beginning of an excitement-stirring fashion month. Among the highlights, Peter Do debuted at Helmut Lang; Ralph Lauren made an opulent return to the calendar, and Coach hosted its 10th-anniversary runway inside the New York Public Library. Now, fashion showgoers are off to London, where the English city’s designers have just begun showing.
In the midst of runways, several headlines had the fashion industry buzzing. Most notably, Sarah Burton announced her exit from the helm of Alexander McQueen, after more than two decades with the brand. Additionally, the CFDA unveiled the nominees for this year’s Fashion Awards; reports surfaced regarding a Kim Jones x Stefano Pilati collab, and Louis Vuitton launched a podcast.

Sarah Burton steppex down as creative director at Alexander McQueen, marking the conclusion of the prolific designer’s more-than-two-decade stint at the British fashion house. The label’s Spring/Summer 2024 fashion show, scheduled to take place during Paris Fashion Week later this month, will be Burton’s final collection for the brand.
On the announcement, Burton said, “I am so proud of everything I’ve done and of my incredible team at Alexander McQueen. They are my family, and this has been my home for the past 26 years. I want to thank Francois-Henri Pinault for believing in me and offering me this amazing opportunity. Above all I want to thank Lee Alexander McQueen. He taught me so much and I am eternally grateful to him. I am looking forward to the future and my next chapter and will always carry this treasured time with me.”
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) on Thursday announced the nominees and honorees for this year’s Fashion Awards.
Among them, Joseph Altuzarra for Altuzarra, Christopher John Rogers, Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Raul Lopez for LUAR and Tory Burch are up for American Womenswear Designer of the Year, while Mike Amiri for AMIRI, Willy Chavarria, Colm Dillane for KidSuper, Teddy von Ranson for TEDDY VONRANSON and Thom Browne for Thom Browne New York are in the running for American Menswear Designer of the Year.
Additionally, Ana Khouri, Brandon Blackwood, Stuart Vevers for Coach, Raul Lopez for LUAR and Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen for The Row are nominated for American Accessory Desifgner of the Year. The Emerging Designer of the Year Award will go to one of the following: Bach Mai, Connor McKnight, Rachel Scott for Diotima, Tanner Richie and Fletcher Kasell for Tanner Fletcher or Carly Mark for Puppets And Puppets.

New York Fashion Week came to a conclusion on Wednesday, marking the end to a show-filled schedule that paved the way for a bounty of new trends, come next season.
Among the highlights, Coach hosted its 10th-anniversary show at the New York Public Library, and Peter Do made his debut at the helm of Helmut Lang in the Lower East Side. Ralph Lauren made his grand return to the official calendar with a luxurious ready-to-wear range staged inside a rustic artist’s loft; Eckhaus Latta presented a skin-bearing range on the escalators at Rockefeller Center, and Willy Chavarria presented his most personal range to date, inside the historical Woolmark Building.

According to WWD, Kim Jones is currently in discussions about launching a collaboration between Fendi and his fashion friend, Stefano Pilati.
Pilati, who previously led designer labels including Yves Saint Laurent and Zegna, operates his own Berlin-based imprint, titled Random Identities. Pilati recently appeared on the runway for Pharrell Williams’ debut show at Louis Vuitton, and he also attended Jones’ fifth-anniversary show at Dior.
In the Fall, Pilati reinstated his Random Identities label, following a two-year hiatus. His collaboration with Jones’ Fendi has yet to be confirmed, though sources state that the line could be revealed in November.
Louis Vuitton is moving into the podcast space with a new audio show hosted by famed French fashion journalist Loïc Prigent.
Titled Louis Vuitton Extended, the show looks to offer a behind-the-scenes listen into the happenings at the revered fashion house. The inaugural episode, which dropped on Wednesday, featured Pharrell Williams, who discussed his debut collection for the brand, as well as his inspirations for the future.
In the episode, Williams detailed his choice to have the choir at his first show: “I wanted people to be clear that the universe had the sun shining on me, and so I felt like the greatest way to express that on the end of it was with the song ‘Joy’ by Voices of Fire. It’s like a Hallmark card for encouragement. When you’re feeling low, and you feel like you don’t have any other answers, faith is a very powerful thing.”
New Louis Vuitton Extended episodes will be released bimonthly.
Kaia Gerber is the new face of Valentino’s Black Tie campaign for the Fall/Winter 2023 season. Governed by Pierpaolo Piccioli, the sartorial offering sees the top-shelf model sport the formal lineup inside New York City’s Oheka Castle.
Shot by renowned fashion photographer Steven Meisel, the campaign appears in black-and-white with an antiquated finish. Gerber wears a blend of masculine and feminine silhouettes, including cropped suits, ruffled shirt dresses and slim neckties.

Titled “Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto,” the showcase marks the first in the U.K. that has been dedicated to the legendary fashioner, taking visitors on a journey through her first millinery boutique in Paris in 1910 to her final Chanel show in 1971.
Bruno Pavlovksy, president of fashion and president of Chanel SAS, said in an interview, “The V&A is probably one of the best institutions in the world and the exhibition offers a good direction. It’s easy to follow, and you don’t need to be an expert in Chanel to understand what’s happening.”

Tiffany & Co. revealed a new capsule collection inspired by its house ambassador, BLACKPINK’s Rosé. Titled “Tiffany Lock Rosé Edition,” the lineup pays homage to the K-pop star with a bevy of 18-karat gold and pink sapphire pieces.
On the collection, Rosé said, “It is such an honor to inspire a capsule collection for Tiffany. It’s exciting to see the iconic Lock collection reimagined with such rare gemstones and I’m excited to share this fun project with my fans and also fans of the Lock collection.”
