Maison Margiela is aiming to do its part to reduce as much waste as possible with a new release of its upcycling line, “Recicla.”
The French luxury house is finding a way to recycle leftover leathers from its other pieces and in that, has created a set of limited edition accessories. According to the website, the “Recicla” label denotes “its limited edition, provenance and period – an illustration of the restorative power of heritage attributes and articles imbued with the soul of history, resonating the grammar of today.”
After releasing the 5AC bag, Margiela has taken its leftover leather used in the production process to create new accessories for its consumers. Margiela has released a string of new products including a range of small leather goods such as the wallet. The piece features a zipped coin purse, while on the other side, reveals five cardholders and the Recicla label. Margiela’s four stitches motif is also seen on the piece. The small leather wallets arrive in various colors including orange, fig, mango and indigo.
Under the “Recicla” label, Margiela lovers can also find key chain wallets, phone holders, as well as upcycled versions of the 5AC classic bag. The collection also includes Recicla Replica Sneakers in various colors. Take a scroll through Margiela’s Recicla collection here.
