Kim Jones Is Reportedly Eyeing a Collaboration With Stefano Pilati for Fendi

It looks like Kim Jones has yet another collaboration in the plots and this time it might be with his fashion friend, Stefano Pilati. WWD has reported that sources in the industry have indicated that a collaboration is currently in discussion at Fendi, which is where Jones has already brought two coveted designers and peers — Donatella Versace and Marc Jacobs — to lend their design prowess.

Pilati has long been known for helming Yves Saint Laurent and Zegna in the past. He also has his own Berlin-based fashion collection Random Identities, where he began to dabble in furniture design. The Italian designer caught the attention of the world this June when he walked the runway for Pharrell William’s inaugural collection during Paris Fahsion Week. He also attended Jones’ celebratory fifth anniversary show at Dior, sitting front row next to Pharrell.

Just last Fall, Pilati rebooted his Random Identities label after a hiatus of two years. It was originally unveiledi n 2018 as a joint venture with Ssence, drawing from the gay and club culture in Berlin. He has been based in Berlin since he left Ermenegildo Zegna in 2016. From 2004 to 2012, he helmed YSL, succeeding Tom Ford. The collaboration between Pilati and Jones has yet to be confirmed, though sources say that the collection could potentially be revealed as early as November.
