Jimmy Kimmel is using a meal prep service to shed some weight ahead of hosting the 2023 Oscars later this month.
“I’ve been getting these little meals in little Tupperware containers delivered to my house every morning,” the late-night talk show host, 55, told People in this week’s issue.
But Kimmel doesn’t seem to be enjoying his limited nutrition plan.
“I have to say, I never feel more sorry for myself than when everyone else is eating spaghetti and I’m eating some little tacos with no tortillas,” he said.
Along with switching up his diet, he is also making sure he exercises. However, Kimmel isn’t setting unrealistic weight loss goals.
“I don’t want to show up onstage looking like ‘Cocaine Bear,’ you know what I’m saying?” he joked, referring to the newly released film about a bear who causes mayhem after consuming tons of cocaine.
“The Serious Goose” author realized that he wanted to lose weight when he tried on the tuxedo he wore while hosting Hollywood’s biggest night five years ago.

“I did have a very unfortunate moment where I tried to fit into the tuxedo I wore in 2018 and I didn’t quite make it,” Kimmel, who hosted the Oscars in 2018 and the year prior, said.
He added, “I looked a little bit like a homemade sausage, so I have been trying to lose some weight before the Oscars.”
The “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host will be wearing a new custom Tom Ford tuxedo for the 95th Academy Awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on March 12.

As for how he’s preparing for his actual hosting duties, Kimmel has been putting together some good material.
“I like to go in 75 percent prepared and leave some room for improvisation and reacting to the show as it’s happening,” he said, adding, “I’m going to give it 110 percent.”

In the past, Kimmel has been vocal about trying new diets to help him with weight loss.
Back in 2015, he turned to the intermittent fasting-focused “5:2” diet which allowed him to eat whatever he wanted five days a week but could only consume less than 500 calories on the other two days.
“Something I’ve been doing for a couple of years now is starving myself two days a week,” Kimmel told Men’s Journal at the time. “On Monday and Thursday, I eat fewer than 500 calories a day, then I eat like a pig for the other five days. You ‘surprise’ the body, keep it guessing.”

He explained that on “fasting days” he mostly drank coffee and ate pickles and for his bigger meals, he would have an apple with peanut butter or the whites of hard-boiled eggs.
“If I’m really hungry, a bowl of oatmeal. The rest of the week I’m a glutton — pizza and pasta and steak,” he said, adding that on the days he fasts, he is “pretty unpleasant to be around.”

He was able to lose 25 pounds on the strict diet without really exercising.
The 2023 Oscars will premiere live on ABC on March 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
