Last week, Filling Pieces announced its latest collaboration with IWC Schaffhausen, unveiling a new campaign inspired by the Swiss watchmaker’s Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland”. The brand has now revealed it has crafted a limited-edition low top sneaker featuring the design and color codes of the iconic timepiece.
Playing on the colored ceramic “Woodland”, the new Low Top Ghost sneaker adopts the “IWC Woodland” tone – specifically engineered in association with PANTONE®. The exclusive tone is applied across the textured body of the sneaker and framed with a black overlay. Hidden features on the collaborative sneaker also see Filling Pieces draw on the aspect of time and unity including an laser cut “X” design – originally featured on the watch’s strap – placed on the perforated Nubuck leather outsole. Other details include angled eyelets and rounded laces to add to its functionality.
Speaking of the collaboration, founder & creative director of Filling Pieces Guillaume Philibert says, “Filling Pieces stands for unity and togetherness, while IWC incorporates precision and time. Our main narrative centers around how precision (time) and emotion (togetherness) are intertwined with each other as a fundamental part of life and its expressions.”
Christian Knoop, chief design officer of IWC Schaffhausen adds, “In every design project, we combine part of our history with new influences we pick up from the world around us. Architecture and fashion are often represented in colorful mood boards, and there’s probably not a board without sneakers. It’s exciting to see that our TOP GUN collection inspired Filling Pieces. With this partnership, we celebrate the culture of creation and exchange.”
To celebrate the release, Filling Pieces and IWC are set to host an in-store pop up exhibition in Amsterdam where panel discussions on fashion, metaverse and NFTs as well as watchmaking masterclasses will take place. Staying tuned to its web3 community “the Diamond Hand Club”, IWC will also share an NFT with those who buy the “Low Top Ghost Woodland”.
