On “Pacer”, Doechii is a rockstar – and a robot. The three-minute edgy cut sees the Tampa rapper tap into her edgy era, in both its lyrics and its cinematic music video.
Backed by an intense trap-meets-rock beat led by hard-hitting guitar licks, Doechii asserts her flow. “Whippin’ in a blimp / F*ck a whip, we don’t give a sh*t / N*ggas getting rich / Bring the clique, bring the f*ckin’ clique,” she repeats over the punchy chorus.
In the Nikko Lamere-directed visuals, Doechii dabbles between outfits and identities – from robot to rave-attendee and everything in between – in an entrancing sequence of shots, reminding us: “I’m a rockstar / I’m on God’s timing / Need a rockstar / Handle my type.”
“Pacer” comes off the heels of the rapper’s latest release “Booty Drop.” The rapper also showed out at Beyoncé‘s Los Angeles RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR stop as a surprise opener and is slated to embark on Doja Cat‘s The Scarlet Tour alongside Ice Spice beginning next month.
