Earlier this week, some alarming news began to spread claiming that iconic mixtape streaming platform DatPiff had shut down. Users that visited the site on Monday (March 13) were met with a blank page or an HTTP 404 error message, meaning the page could not be found. Fans of DatPiff were quick to take to social media to share their sadness regarding the situation while thanking the site for its service in spreading music for nearly two decades.
Catching all the messages, the team at DatPiff released a statement dispelling the fears. “Despite the rumors, we are happy to report that we will still be supplying you with all the mixtapes you love,” the statement read. “We’re working through technical issues on our site and app, but still actively update our YouTube! Thanks for all the love and concerns but we promise, we are still here.”
Launched back in 2005, DatPiff has served as an integral part of the growth of modern hip-hop through its distribution of mixtapes online.
