One of the UK’s best-kept secrets, cityboymoe has just dropped a brand-new single titled “skyblue.”
Mixing gentle melodies with soothing R&B vocals, cityboymoe is never afraid of experimenting with his broad palette of sounds. This has been seen in an abundance of collaborations over the years, after linking up with the likes of the drill-centric group Stay Flee Get Lizzy, or even the lo-fi sounds of Joy Orbinson, city has come to prove that he struggles to be boxed in.
This has been proved — and then some — in his newly-released single. Served up as a silky-smooth package of polished and dance-ready electronics, the record has a mellow feel to it, yet it can be easily played in the rave. Keeping his vocals stripped-back and muted, his melodies don’t fail to shine through, even if there’s a slight underlying sense of vulnerability to them.
While there are no accompanying visuals to the record yet, you can listen to the song in full below, and in other music news, Drake and Lil Baby could be making a joint album.
