Barbour is currently on a collaboration roll. Recently, the British label has connected with the likes of Palm Angels, and Wander, and NOAH, and now it’s continuing to share its creativity with fellow British imprint, Baracuta, with the pair linking up to present their first-ever capsule collection for Fall/Winter 2023.
As a whole, Barbour and Baracuta’s new collaboration is a celebration of the latter’s famous Original Harrington Jacket, known worldwide as the G9. The silhouette was born in the rainy city of Manchester in 1938, just one year after Baracuta’s inception — and now, the jacket is marking its 85th anniversary.
Baracuta’s collaboration with Barbour reimagines its classic jacket with Barbour’s signature details to create a contemporary interpretation of the style, merging heritage with modernity.
The collection is inspired by the “Ivy League Style,” which first established popularity at the turn of the 20th century. Originally, the silhouette was championed by elite East Coast American students who desired clothing that took them from lectures to the sports field, before the jacket eventually drew attraction amongst Britons in the 1960s.
Three iterations of the new jacket form the Barbour x Baracuta collection, with each style featuring a striking combination of both brands’ signature tartans: the Barbour Classic Tartan and the Baracuta Fodera Fraser Tartan lining. Additionally, each jacket is crafted with several pockets alongside signature brand features including co-branding on the internal linings and heavy-duty zippers.
You can check out the Barbour x Baracuta collaboration above and it’ll be available on both Barbour and Baracuta’s official websites from October 13.
