For Spring/Summer 2024, AKNVAS founder/creative director, Christian Juul Nielsen, leaned into literature to craft his latest collection. Specifically, the new offering was inspired by the stories of Danish writer, Hans Christian Andersen, to present a story of fused fashion.
Aptly titled, “The Storyteller,” AKNVAS’ SS24 offering leaned into its affinity for cleanly wearable menswear and womenswear pieces with a touch of floral play. Menswear garments covered the gambit of jackets, button-down tops, pants and shorts, which served as a key wardrobe staple. Specific highlights included a black slightly oversized blazer with a minimal closure and broad shoulders, a yellow acid wash denim bomber jacket and the lineup of shorts that appeared in leather and metallic constructions.
Womenswear was a bit beefier – spanning the likes of dresses, jackets, two-piece sets, eye-catching skirts and floral blouses. Out of the range, dresses like knitted dresses with free-flowing tassels, an all-over silver metallic leaf ensemble and a soft blue high-low ball gown stood out above the rest. But to further Nielsen’s inspiration from Andersen, little touches of floral and swan motifs permeated the pieces.
