adidas Y-3 has always had one foot rooted in tradition and the other flying towards the future. The latest release, the Y-3 logo, is a beautiful exploration on what the future of footwear can look like. Perhaps what’s most immediately apparent is the shape of the sneaker, which favors an angular black upper on a neutral base that oozes of Japanese aesthetic sensibilities.
Where the shoe truly becomes interesting is in the details. Rather than using glue, the Primeknit upper is stitched to the tooling and supported by two thick straps. The midsoles can also be switched out for various comfort levels, options including an agile Lightstrike iteration, as well as a plush BOOST option for a comfy fit.
Additional highlights include branding on the straps, along with Yohji Yamamoto‘s signature on the bottom of the gum outsole. For those looking to purchase, the Y-3 logo is available for $600 USD at adidas.
In case you missed it, solebox and adidas reunite on the UltraBOOST 1.0 and Ultra 4D.
